My thought when asked the question, what’s in a name? Simply put I would answer ‘identity’.
At Queens and Daughters our china is identified by the name that appears on the bottom of our cups, saucers and side plates. We know the shape, colour, pattern and markings are what the craftsmen have stamped their pieces with. This is so they will stand out and be recognised wherever they may reside in this world.
From Queen Anne to Royal Albert, from Duchess to Foley, they are beautifully crafted pieces of bone china made in England.
As human beings, each one of us respond when we are called by our name, we are known by our name. We are identified when it comes to filling out forms and documents. Our name appears on our birth certificates, drivers licences and passports and our names are called out or spoken in everyday life.
Even though we may share the same name as someone else, we ourselves are unique individuals none like anyone else with our own beauty stamped on us. Our names don’t define who we are because we are much more complex and intricately made than to just wear a name tag like a Christmas gift would.
We have our own imperfections, where some of the fine dust and gold fleck appear in the glaze of the finished product. Maybe a slight dent or raised bump in the process of becoming a finished product. They are there to serve as a reminder, we are not all the same, but we are all treasured none the less.
